In order to develop a method for blast furnace aluminum making which uses very little electricity, the Japanese aluminum smelting community established the Aluminum Association of Aluminum Research in April 1983 with 7 units participating. They are Mitsui, Sumitomo, Nippon Light, Showa and Linghua five smelting companies, as well as God-made steel and Ishikawajima Broadcasting Heavy Industries two units of engineering and technology companies. In the past, a small test furnace with a volume of 0.4-3 was built and tested at Omuta Plant in Mitsui. In April this year, the furnace will be expanded to 1 meter ~ 3, began industrial tests. It is planned to invest 6 billion Japanese yen in research for five years, and the general goal to be achieved is high industrialization in 1987
