[Objective] To explore the relationship between occupational stress and mental health of college teachers. [Methods] A total of 259 college teachers were investigated using the Self-rating Symptom Scale (SCL-90) and the Occupational Stress Scale of Teachers. [Results] There was a significant positive correlation between college students’ occupational stress scores and their mental health scores (r = 0.376, P <0.01). The correlation between personal stress and mental health was the highest (r = 0.396, P <0.01) The results showed that the total score of personal stress and pressure had a better predictive value on mental health. Both of them could explain the variation of mental health by 17%, and the regression equation of mental health was: mental health of college teachers = 0.261 × personal pressure + 0.176 × Total pressure. [Conclusion] The occupational pressure of university teachers is closely related to mental health. The higher the occupational stress felt by college teachers, the lower the mental health level. The personal pressure has the greatest impact on the mental health level of college teachers.
