我市从去年三月开始抓中等教育结构改革工作。目前,市内已办起六所职业中学,农村办起十六所农业中学。这二十二所学校共有学生一千八百三十五名,三十八个班,设铸造,金工、综合采煤、水暖、土建、酿造、木器、农机、农技、水电、林果、畜牧、油料作物等十八个专业。现有专职教师一百一十九名,兼职教师四十八名。在办学形式上,有厂矿企业办的,有农村公社办的,也有普通中学改办的。其中多数是半工(农)半读的,少数是全日制的。在举办职业中学的同时,加强了对重点中学的管理,在市高中搞了文理分科试点。普通中学设技术教育课,先在市八中等三所学校搞了试点。对农村普通中学的布局也做了适当的调整,由原来的六十六所压缩到三十一所。还为市内初中毕业未升高中的学生,办了补习班和夜读中学。
