Several college students in Hong Kong have expressed their opinions on Ba Jin’s recent “Suggestion”, saying that it “ignores literary skills” and “not fluency in grammar” and so on. Ba Jin replied in the “Discovery and Study Notes”: “Since I broke into the literary world, I have repeatedly stated that I am not a writer... I never thought that I would skillfully dress myself up to please people, not to mention I would like to conceive of storytelling for the sake of pastime. I said that it was the pain of most people and my own pain that kept me from picking up the pen.
