From December 28 to December 29, 1929, the famous Gutian Conference at the Ninth Party Congress of the Fourth Corps of the Workers ’and Peasants’ Red Army was held in Gutian, Shanghang County, Fujian Province. The Gutian Conference resolved the question of how to build an army with peasants as its main component into a new type of people’s army under the leadership of the Communist Party.
