The design example in Figure 1 uses the S1 switch from Texas Instruments IVC102 Precision Integrator to make a choice between a single input current or two overlapping input currents. This function makes it possible to obtain an output signal whose characteristics are directly related to the ratio of the two input currents. This circuit can achieve high accuracy regardless of most system parameters. In addition, if you use a digital counter to control the circuit using IVC102, you can also improve the accuracy (Figure 2). In this example, the system output is a BCD (binary coded decimal) format, which is proportional to the input current ratio, resulting in a true digital conversion.
