桂花是中国传统十大名花之一,栽培历史达2500年以上。因胶东地区冬天气温在零下十几度,所以桂花在胶东地区不能露天栽培。盆栽的桂花一般采用小叶女贞和山腊做砧木进行嫁接,繁殖太慢,因气候原因种子繁殖很难成功。最近文登市园林处乔聚明同志经过几年的实践,桂花用种子繁殖获得成功。其主要作法是: Osmanthus fragrans is one of China’s top ten famous flowers, cultivation history of more than 2500 years.
