本文介绍了在钼高速钢基础上用加铝增碳的方法经五年多来的试验研究表明,含铝高速钢的各项性能,与含钴超硬型高速钢相似,热处理后硬度为HRC67~69,抗弯强度为290~390公斤/平方毫米,冲击值为2.3~3公斤一米/平方厘米,在600℃时的高温硬度为HRC54~55。锻造性能及切削加工性能优良,但磨削性能在采用白刚玉砂轮进行磨削时,磨削效率低于普通高速钢,而优于高钒高速钢和高钒钴高速钢。制成刀具的耐用度与含钴超硬型高速钢相似,较普通高速钢高1~2倍,最高可达3~4倍。
