Ding Ling’s novels in Yan’an period showed the complexity of multiple discourses. This article begins with the analysis of two novels “When I was in Xia Village” and “In the Hospital” to explain the self-subversion in Ding Ling’s novels, that is, the digestion of political texts on Enlightenment texts. The revolutionary ideology, the spiritual influence of Lu Xun, the writer’s “May Fourth” complex and the revolutionary ideals of internalization as the writer’s own spiritual pursuit, are interwoven with each other and entwined with each other. "Spiritual tradition, upholding the desire of the enlightening role of intellectuals, but also reflects the spiritual predicament and contradiction pain that agrees with the revolution and ablates itself. This is also a common problem entangled in the hearts of Yan’an scholars in the 1940s.
