哈里·塔特尔博士(Dr Harry Tuttle)是美国纽约夷塞卡市学校计算机协调人,他从纽约州立大学获得了博士学位,至今己从事西班牙语和英语作为外语的教学工作十七年了。塔特尔博士对计算机辅助语言教学很有研究,并发表了一些很重要的研究论文。一九八六年三月八日,在美国俄亥俄州奥特贝大学举行的关于微电脑辅助语言学习的会议上,塔特尔博士的一篇题为“运用计算机开发语言熟巧”的报告,引起了与会者的极大兴趣。会议期间,北京语言学院的访问学者盛炎先生就关于计算机辅助语言教学的问题访问了塔特尔博士,下面就是他们所谈及的问题: (1)电子计算机辅助教学与程序教学的关系是什么? (2)您能介绍一下计算机辅助教学的背景情况及其发展现状吗? (3)在语言教学中,计算机辅助教学有什么利弊? (4)计算机辅助教学在八十年代有什么新的发展? (5)如果今后我想随时了解计算机辅助教学在美国发展的有关情况,您认为有哪些杂志值得一读呢? 就上述问题,塔特尔博士愉快地撰写了下面的文章,以答盛炎先生之问。
Dr Harry Tuttle is a computer coordinator for Schools in Isse, New York, USA. He earned his Ph.D. from State University of New York and has been teaching Spanish and English as a foreign language for 17 years. Dr. Tuttle is well-versed in computer-assisted language teaching and has published some very important research papers. On March 8, 1986, at a conference on microcomputer assisted language learning at Otterbey University in Ohio, USA, Dr. Tatel’s report, “Using Computer to Develop Language Proficiency,” led to The great interest of the participants. During the conference, Mr. Sheng Yan, a visiting scholar at the Beijing Language and Culture Institute, visited Dr. Tuttle on the issue of computer-assisted language teaching. The following are the questions they addressed: (1) What is the relationship between computer-aided instruction and program teaching (2) Can you introduce the background of computer-assisted instruction and its development? (3) What are the advantages and disadvantages of computer-assisted instruction in language teaching? (4) What is the new development of computer-assisted instruction in the 1980s? (5) If in the future I would like to keep abreast of the developments in computer-aided instruction in the United States, which magazine do you think is worth reading? In response to the above-mentioned questions, Dr. Tuttle happily wrote the following article, Asked by Mr.
