A literary and artistic pursuit of a wide range of readers, can not be simply denounced as a “kitsch.” Because it has a psychological motivation, it is common to many writers. Of course, there are a few very wise writers who are able to judge their own readers fairly accurately, thus giving up the unrealistic pursuit of a wide range of readers. In fact, the popularization of art (especially pure art) has long been a romantic utopian fantasy. It is a fixed fact that the reading of words is increasingly becoming an excessive luxury in modern society. The real popularization, it is precisely not pure literature and art can afford.
