双凸、双凹和弯月形柱面透镜,在理想情况下两柱面的母线应是相互平行的,但是由于加工误差往往破坏了两柱面母线的平行度而产生母线交叉。这时可能出现两种情况,一是两柱面母线在左右方向交叉,如图1(a)所示;一是在平行母线方向由于两端中心厚薄差而产生的上下交叉,如图1(b)所示。在通常情况下同一柱面透镜上往往同时存在这两种交叉情况。而常用的一些检验方法很难准确区分这两种交叉。

However, some commonly used test methods are difficult to accurately distinguish between the two crossovers.
