在修理生产中,为了提高发动机的搪削至修理尺寸的修复缸套的耐磨性,常采用在金属镀覆介质中进行表面塑性变形的工艺。在制造缸套的工艺过程中,在搪磨工序之后,再加一道工序,即在有金属镀覆介质的情况下,用滚轮对缸套进行滚压以便在铸铁的强化表面层中得到厚度达2μm的减磨铜涂层,不仅可以提高缸套的耐磨性,而且能改善其磨合性。缸套表面上柔软的铜涂层能使匹配件的实际接触面积扩大10倍多,因而可大大减小接触负荷。
