贺兰山震旦系正目观组和兔儿坑组一直以单一成因解释占统治地位,前者被认为是“冰川”或“冰水”成因,后者是“深水”成因。根据新发现的二个新沉积类型剖面,对其成因有了新认识,认为正目观组是在冰川触动下,经历了重力流的改造,其钙质胶结物与上部的白云岩是温暖时期同期形成的产物;兔儿坑组岩性、岩相变化明显,不是前人认为的深水沉积。新剖面的发现,给我们提供重要启示:地史中任何产物决不会是单一作用形成的,它往往是多个作用叠加的结果;必须同时考虑纵向与横向变化,才会得出合理的认识。
