自去年以来，首钢大规模发展高新技术产业的消息频频见诸报端，“首钢股份”的“高技术概念”由此不胫而走，并表现出了强劲的后市潜力。现在，全球经济界人士都看好新经济，大家还意识到，发展新经济的一个重要步骤就是加速传统产业向高新技术产业的转移。首钢作为我国传统产业中的一支劲旅，不仅提出了发展高新技术产业的新世纪构想，而且已经迈出了实质性的步伐。这一带有“标志性”的现象自然引起了社会各界的广泛关注。最近，本刊接到许多读者来信，也纷纷问及“首钢为什么要发展高新技术产业”这个热点问题。为此，本刊特别约请首钢总公司党委书记、董事长罗冰生撰写了署名文章《首钢为什么要发展高新技术产业》，相信读者读后一定能够找到满意的答案。
