The purpose of this study is to understand the use of cross-cultural case law in teaching English business negotiations in Chinese universities and teaching effectiveness. Through the use of cross-cultural case law in the three-month English Business Negotiation course, the data collected for this study come from a variety of sources, including non-English majors, English majors, and adult students. In this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey on the teaching methods of cross-cultural case method and analyzed the classroom teaching process through observation, field notes and lecturer reflection records. Comparative study results show that non-English majors have more business knowledge, English majors have better negotiation language, and adult students have a better understanding of negotiation procedure due to their practical work experience. This study shows that we need to adapt western negotiation knowledge to China’s cultural environment. English business negotiation teaching should combine language skills, negotiation knowledge, cultural awareness and business knowledge.
