This essay is a note to visit the former residence of the Japanese art historian Omura, the same story about the spontaneous exchanges between Chinese and Japanese art historians in the early 20th century. Thus, it also reflects Japan’s phenomenon of the late art historians being gradually forgotten in the recent past. This year (2007) is the year of Sino-Japanese cultural exchange. Organized by the Chinese Embassy in Japan and the China Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the “Wang Bo Min, Wang Da Chuan, Wang Chuan Feng Exhibition” was held at the Fuji Art Museum. Therefore, I went to Japan and stayed in Shikawa-cho, Fujinomiya. In conversation with Japanese friends, I learned that the former residence of Omura Nishiya was near Shikawa-cho. I am pleased to decide to visit.
