Immunohistochemistry was used to study the expression of tumor suppressor genes P16 and P53 in 59 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma. The positive rates of P16 and P53 in 59 cases of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder were 47.46% and 54.24 %. The positive rates of P16 and P53 in transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder were significantly different (P <0.05), and the expression of P16 and P53 was significantly correlated with the pathological grade and clinical stage (P <0.05) <0.05). It is suggested that the abnormal expression of P16 and P53 plays an important role in the development of bladder tumor. P53 gene may play a regulatory role in the expression of P16 gene.
