明代的宫廷政治,未曾比现后妃或外戚专权的弊端,这不能仅仅归功于朱元璋制定的宫廷制度,更应看到马皇后所做出的重大贡献。正是由于马皇后严守后妃不许干政的规定,勤于内治,并拒绝朱元璋为其亲族授官,促使朱元璋做出禁止外戚执掌国政的规定,使其家法更趋完备,从而为此后的后妃树立榜样,有明一代才能基本保持宫壸肃清的局面,避免后妃垂帘听政、临朝称制或外戚专权的祸害。马皇后对明代宫廷政治的积极贡献,应当给予肯定。
The court politics of the Ming Dynasty had never suffered any disadvantages compared with the exclusive rights of the present concubine or other relatives.
