啤酒是用麦芽、大米、酒花和水,经过摄氏70度的糖化、煮沸后添加酵母发酵、过滤酿制而成的。它含有人体需要的17种氨基酸和10种维生素,尤其是B族维生素含量最多,并含有较多的人体所需的矿物质。曾有人进行过估算,1升啤酒的发热量相当于6个鸡蛋或半升多牛奶,或330克猪肉,或250克面包,因而,啤酒也就有了“液体面包”的美称。饮用啤酒可健胃利尿,软化血管,对高血压、心脏病以及结核病有疗效。但过量饮用会适得其反,如血液中的体液增加,心脏负担加重;若长期处在超负荷状态,就会造成代偿性心肌肥厚,心腔扩大,心脏体积增大;加上过量饮用导致脂肪在心肌积聚,使心肌变性,心脏失去正常的生理功能。所以,长饮啤酒的人,心脏往往比正常人大,而收缩力又比正常人弱,故这种体积大、收缩力小的心脏医学上称之为“啤酒心”。
