A high-resolution records of lead(Pb)quantified in an ice core recovered from the Mt.Geladaindong(GL)in the central Tibetan Plateau, spanning the period 1477-1982,provide the comprehensive Pb characteristics over the past 500-year.The high concentrations of Pb during 1950-1980s are comparable to that during the periods of 1590-1660,1720-1760,and 1830-1860.However,the significant enhancement of both concentrations and EFc are only observed during 1950-1980s,indicating the recent increases are likely to be attributed to enhanced anthropogenic emissions, such as mining, stationary fossil fuel combustion, and combustion of gasoline due to human activities in the Asia.Compared with ice core records in Alps and Greenland, the pronounced increases of GL Pb concentrations are observed since 1950s with the highest concentration during 1980s rather than during 1970s.
