As a non-invasive fluid, saliva has been suggested to reflect the physiological and psychological state of human.Imidazole compounds are present in all mammals in different concentrations which have multiple functions closely related to human health.Imidazole compounds in saliva contain free histidine and histatins, closely related to children development.The present paper is the first report of the concentration level of imidazole compounds in children saliva and it documents the investigations of the effects of gender, diurnal variation, and age in children salivary imidazole compounds profiles.57 subjects were investigated in this study, and 6 volunteers (3 boys and 3 girls) were chosen to participate in the diurnal changes research.The diurnal changes research indicated that the concentration of imidazole compounds changed with circadian rhythm.The Determination method was based on chromatic reaction with Pauly reagent by flow injection-spectrophotometer, quick, high-precision and reproducible.The mean concentration of all the samples was (28.09 ± 11.87) g/mL.There was a significant difference with age, but no significant difference was observed with gender.In conclusion, salivary imidazole compounds may be a possible biological marker of social psychological stress.
