This paper proposes a warning and integrity monitoring algorithm for coal mine shaft safety monitoring using the Global Positioning System (GPS) kinematic deformation monitoring time series. The Kalman Filter (KF)algorithm is initially used to achieve an optimal deformation estimation even as the noise are reduced to getdeformation time series. Then, the two-sided cumulative sum (CUSUM) test is investigated and applied to build a shortterm warning algorithm. The relationship of the minimum warning deformation (MWD),the average run length (ARL)and the warning delay (WD) with respect to the warning threshold are presented and the method of selecting warning parameters is given. The simulated analysis shows that the alarm time for the steep deformation is shorter than theslowly growing deformation.A coal mine shaft deformation simulation platform was designed and applied to test the proposed algorithm and a field experiment of MALAN mine shaft in SHANXI coal area indicates that the proposed algorithm is indeed effective. The algorithm can also be applied to other deformation alarm fields.
