Devonian - the turn of the Carboniferous, an important biological extinction event - Hangenberg incident. Further study of the distribution and evolution of biota near the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary will help to understand the process of extinction, resuscitation and radiation before and after the event. The Upper Devonian and Lower Carboniferous are well developed in the Sha’erburtishan and its vicinity in the northwestern margin of the Junggar Basin, Xinjiang, and are important areas for studying the stratigraphic division and contrast around the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary. This section of the strata is rich in various types of fossils, including brachiopods, coral corals, echinoderms and so on. Preliminary studies on the brachiopods near the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary in the area suggest that the main effects of the Hangenberg event are reflected in the rise of new Brachiopods such as the tube-hole Swallow (Zong Pu, Ma Xueping, 2012).
