胡适将他从西方“拿来”的怀疑精神、实验主义、改良主义、教育思想、科学方法等文化思想用以沟通、整理中国的传统文化 ,张扬了“启蒙与再生”的文化交流精神 ,对促进中国文化、学术和教育的现代化和中西文化交流 ,有一定的价值和启示意义。作为一位对自由和民主怀着终极期望的世界化启蒙者 ,他始终不渝地坚守着那片精神息壤 ,孤独地求索和守望 ,终生不息地进行着中外文化交流的学理与实践工作
Hu Shih used his cultural ideas of “doubtful spirit” brought from the West, experimentalism, reformism, educational thoughts and scientific methods to communicate and organize Chinese traditional culture and publicized the spirit of cultural exchange of “Enlightenment and Regeneration” To promote the modernization of Chinese culture, academia and education as well as the exchange of Chinese and Western cultures has a certain value and inspiration. As a world enlightened person who has the ultimate expectation of freedom and democracy, he unswervingly adhered to that piece of mind, solicited and watched alone, and carried through his life the theoretical and practical work of cultural exchange with China
