狼图腾文化是乌古斯部族的标志。“阿史那”之姓氏，为突厥音译，意为“乌古斯的”。狭义的突厥人，指的是操用突厥语■方言的，生活在七河流域及其附近地区的克普恰克（■）、炽俟（■）、基马克（■）、突骑施（■）、谋落（Ｂｕｌａｑ）、样磨（■）、恰鲁克（■）等部落的人以及部分乌古斯人。“突厥蛮”（■）一词是对所有接受了伊斯兰教的乌古斯人、葛逻禄人、克普恰克人等操用突厥语的人的语称。
