狼图腾文化是乌古斯部族的标志。“阿史那”之姓氏,为突厥音译,意为“乌古斯的”。狭义的突厥人,指的是操用突厥语■方言的,生活在七河流域及其附近地区的克普恰克(■)、炽俟(■)、基马克(■)、突骑施(■)、谋落(Bulaq)、样磨(■)、恰鲁克(■)等部落的人以及部分乌古斯人。“突厥蛮”(■)一词是对所有接受了伊斯兰教的乌古斯人、葛逻禄人、克普恰克人等操用突厥语的人的语称。
