数字图书馆的发展与传统图书馆最大的一个区别,在于信息资源的利用带来了一些新的特点。传统图书馆仅仅提供给读者可以采用的内容,而数字图书馆是在数据信息基础上进一步提炼加工,使之成为可以利用的知识。因此,数字图书馆的发展方向,是向读者层面提供知识服务,它是一个知识中心,或者叫做知识定位系统,可以准确定位所搜寻的知识和内容。更准确地说,数字图书馆是一个超大规模的、分布式的、没有时空限制的知识中心。
The biggest difference between the development of digital library and traditional library lies in the fact that the utilization of information resources has brought some new characteristics. Traditional libraries only provide readers with the content they can use, and digital libraries are based on data and information to further refine processing, making it available knowledge. Therefore, the development direction of digital library is to provide knowledge service to reader level. It is a knowledge center or knowledge positioning system, which can locate the knowledge and content searched accurately. More precisely, digital libraries are an ultra-large, distributed knowledge center with no space-time constraints.
