Foreword It is generally believed that the mental workload of a pilot is high during the performance of a mission. Stress tolerance plays an important role in modern flight and requires good information processing and decision making capabilities. Therefore, the author studied the relationship between the psychological workload of a basic military mission and the neuroendocrine response to understand the stress responses associated with military flights. The authors believe that an understanding of the impact of mental workload may help to improve the selection and follow-up of military pilots.
