郑观应(1842-1922)是戊戌变法前承前启后的资产阶级改革派思想家。从19世纪六、七十年代起,他著书立说,倡言变法自强。特别是在成书于甲午战争前后的《盛世危言》五卷本和十四卷本中,他提出了学习西方、变法图强的构想,事实上是对自第一次鸦片战争以来中国爱国进步思想家主张学习西方、富强救国思潮的全面总结,并对后来戊戌变法运动中维新派领袖康有为 (1858-1927)等人产生了较大影响。 (一)提出“主以中学,辅以西学”的原则,鼓吹学习“西法”,效法欧、美,走变法自强之路。 (1)郑观应生活在中国日益沦为半殖民地的年代。在外国资本主义侵略的威胁下,在清政府腐败无能、丧权辱国的刺激下,郑观应走上了林则徐(1785-1850)、魏源(1794-1857)等爱国先驱的道路,探索富强救国之方。在出版《救时揭 Zheng Guanying (1842-1922) was a bourgeois reformist thinker who pre-and after the Reform Movement of 1898.
