Tilly’s theory of forming a nation state mainly explores the relationship between the war and the formation of a nation-state. The core point of his theory can be summarized as that the war is the basic driving force for the formation of a nation-state, the most notable activity created by the state, Extracted the central part. The war pushed for coercion - the chain of extracting circulation kept turning. In this cycle, the military forces expanded continuously and the country continued to expand. After reaching a certain level, there emerged the convergence of the country. Although Tilly paid due attention to the war in his theory, it also overemphasized the role of war, which also led to its theory being somewhat unilateral. This theory of Tilly is discussed from the perspectives of war and state convergence, war and state expansion, war and international relations, and on the basis of which a brief evaluation is made.
