The hemorrheological indexes of 52 Binswanger’s disease (BD) patients were observed and compared with those of the healthy controls (control group). The results showed that the MCV, MCH, MCHC and high shear rate whole blood viscosity in BD group were significantly higher than those in control group Group (P <0.05 ~ 0.01), erythrocyte deformation index was significantly higher than the control group (P <0.01). Prompted BD patients with physiological aging of erythrocytes and varying degrees of pathological changes, such qualitative changes in intra-erythrocyte viscosity, decreased erythrocyte deformability, increased rigidity, resulting in loss of continuity of the white blood flow of the brain, resulting in brain tissue missing Blood, hypoxia and a series of pathological changes revealed that abnormal blood rheology may be involved in the pathogenesis of BD.
