In the northern high latitudes, last-minute deicing was interrupted by several brief, near-glacial climate events, the most striking of which was the cold-season of Nymphaeaceae. As revealed by the GRIP ice core δ18O record, the temperature in Greenland is mainly controlled by the heat released by the surface of the North Pacific. The warm water formed in the western part of the tropical Atlantic Ocean travels northward with the upper water and is complementary to the warm water supplied by the Norwegian-Greenland and Labrador
