Marxist literary criticism was also largely met with a cold shoulder. However, contemporary well-known Western literary critic Terry Eagleton published a new book entitled “Why Marx Is Right” at Yale University Press in 2011, which shows that Marxism still has practical guidance in all fields of today. Meaning, especially in literary criticism. This thesis uses the “dialogue” theory of Bakhtin, a famous Russian semiotics, to explain this. It further shows that the political and artistic works are not contradictory to each other, but are integrated with each other and even promote each other.
