The betel nut is a dry and mature seed of the Areca Areca CATHECl L., a palm plant, and has the functions of insecticidal, consumer product, gas-generating, and diuresis. Clinically, it is often immersed in thin slices and used as medicine. In the world, there is “a betel nut cut 108 pieces”, and the “Chinese Pharmacopoeia” (1995 edition) was downloaded from the betel nut as “removing impurities, soaking, moistening, and cutting thin slices.” . The author believes that the betel nut’s processing method is not proper. The reasons are as follows: 1. The effective ingredient of the betel nut deworming is iscoline, which is easily soluble in water and can evaporate with water vapor. The betel nut run through the thin slices of herbs, and then decocted into medicine, will inevitably result in the loss of the active ingredient of arecoline, which directly affects the efficacy of the drug. Traditionally, there is the saying that the betel nut “sees no fire and no power”.
