美国洛杉矶加州大学ESL(英语作为第二语言)部塞尔斯—米夏(Marianne CelceMurcia)付教授和麦金托什(Lois McIntosh)教授(已退休)合编的《英语作为第二语言或外语的教学(Teaching English as a Second or Fo eign Language,1979,Newbury House Publishers,Inc)》一书是涉足英语教学生涯者们的较完全的入门书。全书的撰稿人都是该校多年从事ESL教学的教授和学者。他们按主编的要求,分别从各自的研究领域,结合自己的教学实践,从不同的角度探讨ESL教学。该书选材广泛,包罗了教学法知识,各种语言技能的教授方法及其依据,学生因素分析,教师如何教课及如何提高等。既适用于有一定实践经验的英语教师,也适用于初登讲台的新教师。

The book is widely selected, including the pedagogy knowledge, teaching methods of various language skills and its basis, student factor analysis, how teachers teach and how to improve. It is applicable to both English teachers who have some practical experience as well as new teachers who attend the first stage.
