20世纪初期,西方写实雕塑和技术的引入,使我国雕塑史开始改变,写实主义逐渐占据了重要地位,并作为20世纪中国美术史上最重要的艺术现象,它似乎更能体现20世纪中国的时代文化精神。直到改革开放后,尤其是受到85新潮的冲击,雕塑艺术的表现形式和造型语言也开始变的纷繁复杂,写实开始渐被瓦解,95之后,艺术家开始思考和寻找本土的语言后,写实主义伴随着波普,装置,艳俗等表达途径开始了崭新的突破。
