After the “Cultural Revolution”, the red classics experienced the ups and downs of reading in the 1980s and the popularity of the late 90s. The shortcomings of the text itself, the literary and art reflections in the 1980s and the impact of the new literary and art trends, the break in the education and research of the history of contemporary literature, and the double escape of the masses and the elites have all contributed to the silence of the reading of the red classics. However, the historical nostalgic context of the end of the 20th century, the strategic needs of national cultural construction, the re-understanding of the artistic value of the text, and the market fueling the flames together contributed to the re-dazzling red classic. To investigate the reasons for its silence and popularity is of great significance to clarify the understanding and construction of a new system of literary theory.
