张学良将军生前留下的珍贵文化遗产——多达145盘的谈话录音盒带,遵照张学良生前和美国哥伦比亚大学签订的正式协议,终于在他故世以后的2002年6月5日,正式向世人解密了。但是,就在这145盘珍贵口述资料公开解密的时候关心这位世纪老人口述历史的读者们,并不知道在长达5年的时间中,美国哥伦比亚大学口述历史部,曾经付出过不懈的努力甚至是艰巨的代价。这其中起到重要作用的,应该是哥大口述历史部中国历史名人口述创始人韦慕庭教授,著名华裔女博士、哥大东亚文学系教授张之丙女士,还有具体负责口述历史和文物珍藏部的阿什顿博士等人。
