Bone morphogenic protein-6 (BMP-6) is a member of the family of bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs), a member of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) superfamily. In recent years, it has been found that BMP-6 plays a unique role in multiple processes related to reproduction. BMP-6 and its receptors are distributed in ovary, granulosa cells and membranous cells in the ovary, which regulate the synthesis of steroid hormones through the signaling pathway in the ovary. For different species of granulosa cells and membrane cells Proliferation has a different role. From these two perspectives, BMP-6 has an impact on female reproductive performance. However, the current research on BMP-6 affecting female reproductive capacity is contradictory and needs to be studied more extensively and deeply.
