J.G.A.Pocock is an erudite, keen and modest historian, quite a refined charm. In the west, he has been regarded as master of contemporary historiography and has become the research object of academia. Pocork’s career started in Cambridge. There he had a small group of like-minded scholars, such as Quentin Skinner and John Dunn, all of whom were enthusiastic about the remodeling of the study of the history of political thought. After leaving Cambridge, Pokirk once returned to New Zealand, where he lived in his early years, and taught at the University of Canterbury, and helped to establish the Department of Political Science. Since 1963, he settled in the United States and is currently a professor of history at Johns Hopkins University.
