《路》是科马克·麦卡锡的一部非常成功的小说,曾于2001年获得普利策奖,随后赢得了读者和评论家的广泛关注。这部作品揭露了自然环境生态危机和社会环境生态危机,表达了作家的生态意识:大自然有其内在的规律,任何破坏自然的行为都是不道德的,必将受到自然的惩罚;人类只有敬畏自然并怀揣希望,心怀感恩且关爱他人,如此才能建立一个和谐的自然和社会。麦卡锡倡导建立人人相互关爱的社会关系以及人与自然和谐相处的生态关系。本文从生态批评的立场出发,揭示了麦卡锡在小说《路》中囊括的生态伦理思想,并阐释其对以往麦卡锡生态理念的传承与超越。
The Road is a very successful novel by Comac McCarthy who received the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 and subsequently won the widespread attention of readers and critics. This work exposes the ecological crisis of the natural environment and the ecological crisis of the social environment, and expresses the writer’s ecological awareness: Nature has its inherent laws and any acts that destroy nature are immoral and will surely be punished by nature; human beings only have Awe-inspiring and hopeful, grateful and caring for others, in order to build a harmonious nature and society. McCarthy advocates the establishment of social relations that everyone cares about each other and the ecological relationship that man and nature live in harmony with. From the standpoint of ecocriticism, this article reveals the ecological ethic thought McCarthy included in the novel “The Road” and expounds its inheritance and surpassing to the past McCarthy ecology concept.
