Hip arthroplasty has a history of at least 30 years. Improvements in materials and surgical techniques significantly reduce the incidence of infections and aseptic loosening. At the same time, stress-protective responses and aggressive granulomatous disease have become major complications of arthroplasty. The authors reported plain radiographs of these complications.
