The use of high-frequency transmitting equipment in aviation, especially in military aviation, is increasingly widespread. The impact of high frequency radiation (RFR) on human health is a matter of debate among the scientific community and the general public. The U.S. Air Force employs a large variety of RFR launchers, and the safe use of these devices is paramount. For this reason the U.S. Air Force has done a lot of research on the biomedical effects of RFR over the past 25 years. In addition to conducting and initiating research, the Air Force has made a significant contribution to the enactment and promulgation of health and safety standards.
