Islamic culture in Quanzhou has experienced a fading past and present moment. In the recent thirty years, it has become an important local cultural expression. However, the Islamic faith that once existed has been withdrawn from the social life of Muslims in the area due to the establishment of the clan system. However, the ancestor worship, which is the core of the clan system, has also saved some Islamic cultural elements. In recent decades, the recovery of clan organizations has helped to promote mutual recognition with Muslim identity in local Muslim communities. The local Muslim community has now become Quanzhou multicultural spokesperson. Examining the case of Quanzhou Muslims in a global context can illustrate the fact that globalization is either integrated with or “re-localized”. In other words, without globalization, the cultural landscape in Quanzhou may show a totally different outlook.
