我退休前在徐家汇藏书楼工作。楼中的外文古籍负盛名于世。我每接触这些古籍,总是爱不释手,进书库后总是流连忘返。在这里我见到了第一部先秦典籍的拉丁文木刻本,也见到了徐光启所译《几何原本》的底本。这些开辟了中西文化交流之路的著述,以及徐光启、李之藻、利玛窦、殷铎泽、钱德明等文化交流的使者,宛如繁星点点嵌缀在中西文化交流的苍穹上。吸引我的还有这些古籍所宣示的那种艺术底蕴,印刷和雕板的图案、字体清丽古朴,人物传神欲动,历数百年而线不断,纸不碎,
I worked in Xujiahui Library before I retired. The building of foreign ancient books prestigious. Each time I contact these ancient books, I always put it down, after the library always forget. Here I saw the first wood carving of Latin scriptures of Pre-Qin classics, and I also saw the translation of the original “geometry” by Xu Guangqi. These opened the way for the exchange of Chinese and Western cultures, as well as the messengers of cultural exchanges such as Xu Guangqi, Li Zhizao, Matteo Ricci, Yin Duo-taek, and Qian Deming, all of which are like stars scattered in the sky of Sino-Western cultural exchange. What attracts me is the kind of artistic heritage, typography and carving boards that these ancient books declare. Their fonts are elegant and simple, and their characters are vivid.
