用普通的育种方法将商用品种与含PD种质的品种或种质系杂交,同时根据其后代的丰产性和纤维强力进行选择,共选出11个优良的品系。商用品种为5个东南及中南地区栽培品种;含PD种质的品种或种质系共28个,其中19个正在生产上应用,9个已被陶汰。根据籽棉产量对F_3单株及F_4株行进行田间选择,同时测试中选株的衣分、纤维长度、纤维强力及麦克隆值。中选优株于1986年在南卡罗来纳城的佛罗伦萨进行了田间比较试验,鉴定其丰产性、纤维品质及纺织特性。试验为完全随机区组排列,重复4次。第二年,11个中选株系又于提福顿、佐治亚、杰伊、佛罗里达、布来克维尔及佛罗伦萨进行了田间比较试验。试验结果验证了以前曾报道过的结论,即皮棉产量与纤维强力之间的连锁在现在的PD种质内已被打破,所以在棉花的品质改良中,PD种质是一个优秀的高纤维强力基因源。中选株系是从PD系品种与下列品种杂交后代中选择而来的:DES 422,Delcot 311,Deltapine 41,McNair 220和McNair 235。在DES 422,McNair 220及McNair 235的祖先中含有PD种质,但不携带控制高纤维强力的基因;Delcot 311的祖系中含有三交种种质;而与大部分中南地区栽培品种相比,Deltapine 41则具有较高的纤维强力,几乎接近于PD种质系品种。此外,我们用常规育种方法将7个中国品种与含PD种质的3个正在应用的及5个已过时的品种或种质系杂交。对后代进行选择,与对照PD-1、PD-3相比,结果并不理想,除了获得较高的籽棉产量以外,其它性状都不好:衣分低,纤维短、粗,而且强力较差。因此,用PD种质与不同类型的陆地棉品种杂交,欲获得满意的结果,必须采用更复杂的育种方法。
Commercial varieties were crossed with varieties or germplasm containing PD germplasm by ordinary breeding methods, and eleven fine lines were selected based on the high yield and fiber strength of their offspring. The commercial varieties were cultivated in 5 southeast and central and southern China. There were 28 varieties or germplasm with PD germplasm, of which 19 were in production and 9 were eliminated. According to the seed cotton yield on the F_3 single and F_4 line field selection, while testing the selected strains of clothing, fiber length, fiber strength and micronaire value. Zhongyouyouzhu made a field experiment in 1986 in Florence, South Carolina, identifying its high yield, fiber quality and textile properties. The experiment was completely randomized block arrangement, repeated 4 times. In the following year, eleven selected lines conducted field trials in Tifton, Georgia, Jay, Florida, Breckville and Florence. The test results validate the previously reported conclusion that the link between lint yield and fiber strength has been broken within the current PD germplasm so that PD germplasm is an excellent high fiber strength in cotton quality improvement Gene source. The selected lines were selected from the crosses of PD lines with the following breeds: DES 422, Delcot 311, Deltapine 41, McNair 220 and McNair 235. The ancestors of DES 422, McNair 220 and McNair 235 contained the PD germplasm but did not carry the genes that control high fiber power. The progenies of Delcot 311 contained three cross germplasms; however, compared with most of the Central South China cultivars, Deltapine 41 has a higher fiber strength, almost close to the PD germplasm species. In addition, we crossed seven Chinese varieties with three applied and five outdated varieties or germplasm lines containing PD germplasm using conventional breeding methods. The choice of the offspring did not give as good results as the control PD-1, PD-3 and did not perform well except for higher seed cotton yield: low apparel, short fiber, coarse fiber, and poor power . Therefore, crossing the PD germplasm with different types of upland cotton varieties requires more complex breeding methods for satisfactory results.
