Steady-state vibration technology provides a quick and easy way to obtain information about the dynamics of the earth’s surface by measuring surface wave velocities and assigning them to materials at special depths. In this way, the so-called depth of subsoil stiffness can be identified. In the past 20 years, a value of 12 surface-wave experience has been widely used in these depths. However, the latest results from the analysis of surface wave propagation problems suggest that shallow depths are more appropriate. The article describes a procedure for estimating the depth profile of the shear modulus of soil sediments by combining empirical and scatter relationships.
