North American invented whirlpool since the early 1970s, increasing the number of users. This bath is mechanically agitated by pressurized jets in the large bath, giving the bathers a comfortable feel. In 1975, for the first time, McCausland et al. Reported that a skin rash occurred in a bath due to the contamination of the whirlpool with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Since then there have been more reports of rash in the United States; some have been affected in addition to skin symptoms. The largest such outbreak so far occurred in a hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, with a quarter (76) of travelers staying overnight. Australia also reported for the first time in 1983 a rash outbreak associated with a whirlpool.
