Just as researchers in other countries, researchers at West Germany-based AEG Radio have also turned to optical recording technology to solve the growing problem of computational speed and low storage capacity. The company's Ulm lab hopes to work out a relatively inexpensive method of recording and storing digital data at a high bit density.
