Researchers at the Swiss Polytechnic Institute have put three genes into rice in a laboratory in Zurich to produce a golden yellow rice variety that is rich in carotene and golden yellow. The breed is good for changing the under-intake of vitamin A in developing countries. After years of hard work, researchers at the International Rice Research Institute have successfully cultivated a new type of rice that is 2 times more abundant in iron and zinc than ordinary rice.
